So, the other day I posted !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , and being under 25 (a.k.a. being ripped off by Enterprise).

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

To my surprise, they gave me a 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT. I was supposed to get a Versa Note, but it was getting an oil change (which I'm sure is long overdue). When they say that cheapest rentals get rented out a lot, they're not lying. I was standing next to the woman at the counter returning the Elantra GT I got.

I'm a MASShole now...

Anyway, it's a pretty good value. The thing costs MSRP $20,060, and I have heated seats, bluetooth, power everything, and a plethora of other features. It's not too bad to look at and it has decent passing power. It also has this button that changed steering feel.

However , it's showing major signs of rental abuse, such as the lack of third gear . When I'm driving around town, it'll engage just fine. However, when I'm accelerating more rapidly (not pedal to the floor, but enough to get me to 40ish), it'll leave second gear, rev up to 7000RPMs (like it's in neutral), then shift to fourth. I can't imagine what it's gone through in it's short 13,000 miles.

At first, I thought it was just me pushing it too hard, but after trial and error, this thing needs a transmission servicing or reprogramming.

Back to Enterprise I go...

Why not just try to finish it off while you're there? As long as they're ripping you off, cost them something.

I was thinking about that. But, I look like an idiot revving my engine wherever I go with it, and I'm hoping I'll be upgraded somewhat when I return it, given the pain and suffering the transmission put me through.

Plus, being under 25 makes them inherently not trust me - I'd rather not have this one pinned on me!

You got their insurance, right? If so, it doesn't matter if they trust you.

I seriously considered this car before I bought my Focus.

Really nice car, actually. Tons of space, heated seats, leather, etc. If I didn't care about driving dynamics at all I would have bought it.

That steering wheel looks too bare. It needs another dozen or so buttons and it will be complete.

I rented a car when I was 23 about to turn 24. They gave me a Hyundai Sonata, which had the same steering weight button. I hated the car and Enterprise fucked me over by claiming a small crack in the windshield was my fault (it was there when I picked the car up). I ended up having to pay $300 to replace the windshield because when I first picked up the car they just told me to sign sign sign papers and never invited me to inspect the car beforehand. I was young and inexperienced, and they probably saw the opportunity to have me pay for the windshield instead of themselves.

Moral of the story: don't get fucked over like I did. Make sure to inspect your rental before you sign anything and make sure any damage you see is noted on the paperwork.

Don't just walk around and inspect — take a movie with your cellphone, and make sure you home in on every last scuff mark and paint chip.

Serious question: The Focus is that much better? And what year?

They could blacklist me. Knowing that there is really only two or three rental companies (since they all own one or another), I'd rather not lose one option at the age of 21.

I just picked it up. It's a base model regular Elantra Sedan.

I was kinda pissed because I went to this Enterprise because the guy at the one I got the car from originally said they had the biggest selection. I got there, hoping to get upgraded. If I came 5 Minutes earlier, I would have had a Dart, which I really want to try. They said they rented out over 50 cars today.

I took their last car they had.

I was merging onto the Merritt (a CT Highway with no merge lanes), and it did it. It was some scary shit right there. Does it just need a reprogramming?

So far, my transmission has been replaced, and that, along with all of the other issues are still present. I am trying to lemon law the shitbox.
